Freshers' Week

Getting in Touch

Hello! If you're coming to Newcastle in September, then congratulations on your results! If you'd like to find out more about CU, or get involved when you arrive in September then you can fill in our contact form:

Fill in our Freshers' Contact Form

Our Freshers' Week team (headed up by Suse this year) will get in touch, say hi, give you some details about CU and see if there's any other way we can help you out!

If you're interested in seeing what CU gets up to during the year, check out our calendar page.

Church Search

If you consider yourself a Christian, we feel it's so important to get stuck in to a Church in Newcastle, and quickly! To help that, we run the CU Church Search scheme for three weeks from the beginning of term. More information can be found on the Church Search page.

Freshers' Week 2008

Freshers week is a great way for freshers to find their way around the university and Newcastle and get settled. The Union Society run the majority of events at Freshers' Week, but the CU is also involved and helps run some stuff during the week, as well as its own events.

We help man the tea tent outside the Union building, from 11am - 2am every day during the week. There will always be some lovely people here ready to serve you free hot drinks, maybe a slice of cake and just be there to chat and answer any questions you might have about Newcastle, the CU or anything else! We're don't want to push our own agenda but are there to serve the students of Newcastle Uni.

We also run a few events in the evenings too. We'll put up some details for this year soon, but here's what we did last year to give you an idea:

  • Mon - Pub Quiz
  • Tues - Grub crawl
  • Wed - Events in halls (meet your new Hall Group!)
  • Thurs - Acoustic night
  • Fri - First CU Meeting
  • Sat - Beach BBQ

We hope you managed to get along! If not - don't worry, all of our events are open to everyone, so why not pop along?
