Membership of UNCU is restricted to students at the University of Newcastle that can sign a copy of the Doctrine. This does not mean non-members can not attend our meetings or that we want to be an exclusive club - we would love you to come along. Rather membership is restricted to those that believe the core set of beliefs set down in the Doctrine so that we can encompass as many Christians as possible in fulfilling the aims of the UNCU.
The CU has a number of email lists for members, graduates, and other people interested in the activites of the Christian Union.
Membership of the UNCU means you will be automatically added to the cu-members mailing list. However, if you would like to be added please contact the secretary and ask to be added!
Subscription to cu-graduates and cu-info is unrestricted. You can either subscribe youself by sending an email with 'subscribe' in the body of the message, or contact the secretary.
Finance and Giving
The UNCU's primary purpose is to tell people on campus about the Lord Jesus Christ, and in order to do this most effectively we inevitably have to spend money! Our finances are divided into two areas- general running costs and our mission week costs. We encourage members to set up standing orders to fund our general running costs- we believe giving is a biblical spiritual discipline and it is our members that primarily fund the CU. Our mission week is the time of our most concentrated campus outreach, running evangelistic events every lunch time and evenings. We appeal to anyone who wants to contribute to our mission on campus to consider giving towards our mission week costs.
If you want to contribute to the costs of the CU's work, you can donate by putting money in the box at the front on our Friday meetings, sending a cheque to the Treasurer, or you can give regularly by standing order (please ask for a copy from the Treasurer or at our Friday Meetings.
If you wish for your one-off contributions to be used specifically for our mission week, please indicate this when giving.
